Helping the University of Melbourne make a complex digital ecosystem easier to navigate
Research-led navigation and information architecture strategy to guide future digital delivery across a large, decentralised university website.
Project snapshot
Stakeholder alignment, tree testing, and IA direction setting across a complex university environment.
The University of Melbourne’s website is not a single website in the simple sense. It is a large, decentralised digital ecosystem shaped by faculties, services, audience groups, subdomains, legacy content, and competing organisational needs.
Prequel supported a navigation and information architecture uplift to understand why people were struggling to find information, test clearer structural directions, and create an evidence-backed foundation for future digital delivery.
The work combined current-state analysis, stakeholder workshops, content and UX audits, analytics review, competitor research, tree testing, IA concept development, and validation with 160 participants.
